My mental health depends on my painting. Some journal to help resolve feelings of depression or anxiety, my journal is my painting.
My first oil painting was in 4th grade and I painted through my collage and 20s. Then career and family really prevented from me from art until my husband’s death. After 25 years of not painting I have resumed my art and found how it rescued me from grief and depression. My art reflex my moments from joyous to disparate despair. Currently my latest series helps my sorrows with all events in today’s world from the Climate Crisis to the politics of mental health. These paintings I’ve submitted are my journal entries for the Texas Hill Country Flood Disaster and the current crisis of our rights as people in mental health care distress…
