My day job is at 988, the national suicide prevention hotline. We weave de-escalation strategies in our dialogues with our helpseekers. I made this weaving out of shredded paper from our office, and I inked it out so no personal details would be visible. Then I hand-painted paper and cut it into the shape of a semi-colon. ; The semi-colon is a symbol often used as a tattoo by people who have survived a suicide attempt. I chose weaving and the semi-colon because we are together weaving a pause and a chance to start again. I live in Saint Paul at the Schmidt Artist Lofts and work with “bright colors and thoughts.” My Instagram is @acrylexia
